An hourglass petite blonde with a charming smile and larger than life personality who exudes confidence, Jenifer Kaplan has established herself as a star-in-the-making. With an impressive pedigree of training and education, Kaplan comes from a lineage of talent, most notably her great-grandfather, Samuel Baroff, a famous vaudevillian performer and composer who financed Charlie Chaplin’s start in show business.
Kaplan is a SAG-AFTRA “quintet threat” (actor, vocalist, dancer, on-air radio personality and voice-over talent). Jenifer showcases her innate ability to electrify audiences with a commitment to excellence, compassion, and enthusiasm which matches her tremendous heart. She began her acting career as a child, and won roles on television’s Secret’s Out and Evening Magazine. Kaplan was showcased in productions of Kids, Annie, Annie Get Your Gun, Edwin Drew, and Gypsy.
At age 15, Jenifer began formal training with internationally celebrated vocal coach Judy Davis 2. Jenifer’s star vocal qualities were immediately recognized by Davis cinching 1 of 20 spots from 289 applicants. Davis trained legendary artists— Barbra Streisand, Bernadette Peters, Frank Sinatra, Grace Slick, Steve Perry and other eminent vocalists. Judy was not just a vocal coach to Jenifer; she was also a prized mentor who gave Kaplan solid advice about the entertainment industry.
Jenifer’s educational tenure as a performer did not stop there. She also trained for years at the Phil Bennett Studios in San Francisco studying the famed Stanislavski Method. Bennett was one of few who trained with the distinguished Sonia Moore. Kaplan earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in the Theatre and Dance Department at the University of Texas at Austin graduating top of her class. She performed in many student short films and local stage productions. Kaplan also appeared in The Life of David Gale (2003) starring Kevin Spacey, Kate Winslet and Laura Linney. She was featured in the Secret In Their Eyes (2015) starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Nicole Kidman and Julia Roberts. In 2017, Jenifer costarred in the animated feature film Monster Island. Currently, she is performing the scratch voices for 7 unique characters in the live action film, Lady and the Tramp.
Always willing to try new things, in her junior year of college she was summoned to the radio waves. Within a year of training in production she landed a coveted day-part slot on the air as a radio personality with CBS, now Entercom’s KQBT. After only a year she was wooed away by the competition at iHeart Radio where she thrived at KFMK. Inside of a few months, Kaplan dominated the airwaves broadcasting to 16 stations in various formats across the country. Enticed by Los Angeles’s major market, Jenifer established herself on Westwood One’s E! Radio, Jim Ladd Presents, iHeart Radio’s KBIG and KHHT HD, and guest hosted on Rick Dee’s Weekly Top 40 Countdown. Kaplan is currently working on a syndicated show called Kapitalize; which plays on her last name. The show shares insightful stories you have never heard from acclaimed personalities and luminaries in the fields of music, entertainment and politics. It is an autobiographical account bridging the personal and professional gap of their extraordinary lives and their impact on the world. In an intimate setting, these unique individuals share their greatest life lessons of personal developments, triumphs, challenges and defeats. The conversation focuses on the vulnerability and life altering circumstances that we all share and how each individual was shaped by events that provided them with opportunities. The show encourages the will and dreams of others to Kapitalize on their own aspirations.
With a natural delivery and prolific acting background, Jenifer’s tapestries of talents were an obvious fit in the voice-over world. Kaplan started her training with legendary 4 time Emmy coach and casting director Ginny McSwain. Kaplan is consistently looking to perfect her craft and take her talents to the next level with distinguished casting directors such as Jennifer Trujillo, Kelly Ward, and Jodi Gottlieb. Lindsay Perlman-Halper of Lucas Films said, “She has a dynamic range of characters under her belt”. Kaplan has voiced hundreds of commercial spots, video games, and animated features. Such projects include: The Golden Globes, Tinker Bell the Movie, X-Box 360, Final Fantasy, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Winnie the Pooh and the Super Sleuths, Handy Manny, Little Einstein and many other prominent ventures. Jenifer recently completed production on her first animated feature film where she voiced 5 characters which released in late 2017.
